The SII seeks to connect the work of different organisations and individuals in Khayelitsha.
The following are a list of current educationally-linked projects and programmes operating in the township.
100UP PARTNERSHIPS: INSIDE THE UNIVERSITY
SHAWCO is responsible for the implementation and delivery of the Saturday school programme at UCT for Grade 11 and 12 learners.
This unit provides invaluable career guidance and counseling to the 100UP project learners over the three years.
Academic writing skills workshops are offered to 100UP grade 11 & 12 learners.
The 100UP learners are taught how to access books and resources in the UCT libraries
UCT ENGINEERING AND BUILT ENVIRONMENT [EBE] FACULTY: SAICE
The Aqualibrium water week competition takes place with 100UP Grade 10 learners.
UCT COMMERCE FACULTY: EDUSO
The Education and Development Unit Student Society runs capacity building workshops with 100UP Grades 11 & 12 learners.
Colleagues from FHS engages the 100UP Grade 10 & 11 learners in ‘under the microscope’ lab exposure.
100UP Grade 12 learners that show an interest in Science as a career field are taken on a bio-sciences fieldtrip to expose them to what this field is all about.
Colleagues engage a selected group of Grade 12 100UP and GILL NET learners in the ‘Humanities Career field’ workshops.
The annual Schools Entrepreneurial Conference and Schools Entrepreneurial Olympiad takes place with 100UP Grade 12 learners.
The department arranges transport for the 100UP learners to participate in the annual UCT mathematics competition.
Honours and master students get involved in the coaching of mathematics and sciences to the 100UP grade 12 learners.
Students from the UCT FHS run capacity building workshops with the 100UP learners.
This UCT student body provides the 100UP Grade 11 learners with a ‘boardroom experience’ during their residential camps and volunteers to be life long mentors to the 100UP learners.
100UP PARTNERSHIPS: OUTSIDE THE UNIVERSITY
Post graduate students belonging to this organization engage the 100UP learners in out-of-the-box thinking and problem-solving workshops.
Selected 100UP Grade 10 learners are trained in their trailblazer programme.
WESTERN CAPE EDUCATION DEPARTMENT (WCED): METROPOLE EAST EDUCATION DEPARTMENT (MEED)
Monthly meetings take place with Mr Bennie Schereka, Head of Curriculum, as well as other District Officials. These consultative meetings signal the collaboration with MEED, and their ongoing support of 100UP, and of the SII more broadly.
