100UP Galleries

100UP is growing from strength to strength. There are three hundred learners in the programme annually. Of the first cohort of 100UP and GILL NET learners, 70 have entered UCT as 100UP+ students. The 100UP+ students receive further academic support and development at UCT by the Centre for Higher Education and Development (CHED).

100UP3 March Activities

Thanks to the vice chancellor who is continuously raising funds for this UCT project, a third group of hundred Khayelitsha learners, 100UP3, joined the programme in 2013.

UCT's Law faculty's staff and students engage with 100UP schools and learners at workshops held throughout the year.

EBE Workshop

The faculty of Engineering and Built Environment runs interesting workshops with the 100-UP learners. Through their assistance and support, 100-UP learners have managed to win the regional water week competition in 2012.

UCT Open Day

The 100UP learners enthusiastically attend this event every year. This year, the three hundred learners will be bussed in from Khayelitsha to UCT to engage with staff and students about their future career fields.

Residential Holiday School

Learners receive academic enrichment at the two residential camps held for each of the grades per year. The first camp is held at UCT's central campus in Rondebosch, Cape Town, during the winter school holidays, and also focuses on providing learners with opportunities to acquire skills and experiences in preparation for tertiary studies.

SHAWCO Registration

Shawco delivers the Saturday school component in 100UP. The learners' core academic areas such as Mathematics, Sciences and English, are being strengthened via small group tuition. These Saturday classes take place at UCT.

SAADP Workshop

Every year the South African Actuaries Development Programme engages the 100UP learners in challenging mathematics and statistics by running capacity building workshops during the year.

Mathematics & Mathematics Competition

Thanks to funding provided by Capitec Foundation, transport is organized for the 100UP school learners to be exposed to this exciting activity held at UCT. Many of the Khayelitsha schools hardly participate in this competition as they do not have the finances to transport the learners.
